Andy

Last Saturday I took a break from delivering coffee orders and picked up a camera, a 3-ton truck, and a lot of lighting equipment. For the first time since college, I am making a movie. Actually, Cime Bruce is making a movie. She wrote the script and through her company, Finao Productions is now producing and directing it. I am just the director of photography.

“Special” (as the movie is to be called) is feature-length and will be shot over the course of the entire summer. Every weekend until August 31st, you can find twenty of us somewhere in Portland shooting a moving picture. As a way to keep a record of our progress, I will be posting weekly accounts of the most recent events. From time to time this will include funny insider stories, the type of anecdotes that George Clooney shares while appearing on Letterman. Mostly, though, this will be a repository for the technical aspects of shooting a movie: lighting diagrams, camera settings, etc. (The type of anecdotes that Wes Anderson tends to share during his DVD commentaries). In short, this is where I will record my mistakes and occasional triumphs.

By the way, the man pictured above is one of the stars.

Check back soon for a longer post with pictures and maybe even video.
